Call for papers: 15th IEHCA Conference on Graphic Gastronomy

The European Institute for the History and Culture of Food (IEHCA) in France has opened up a call for papers for their 15th conference to be held in Tours, France from the 3rd to the 5th of December, 2025. 

This year’s conference, titled “Graphic Gastronomy: Bandes Dessinées, Comics, Mangas and Food Cultures through History”  concerns two main fields of study – food and comics. 

Interested in submitting a proposal? Suggested topics include:

  • Comics as a source and research field for food studies
  • How do comics deal with, use and treat food and gastronomic themes? 
  • The reception, distribution and readership of “food” comics. 

Proposals (max 500 words in English or French) and a CV (max 300 words) should be submitted to: iehca2025@univ-tours.fr by February 28th, 2025. 

Registration for the conference is free of charge.
